Care
It is your responsibility to understand how to use our products correctly, and to follow all inspection and maintenance instructions. We provide this page to help you do so.
Inspect your holster or concealment pouch when you first receive it, and routinely as you wear it. Maintain the bolt tensions if necessary. Clean the holster regularly to maintain good hygiene. Avoid dropping it, but feel free to leave it in a portable vault in a hot car. Read on for the recommended procedures.
Inspection Instructions
Retention
adjustment
All our products have adjustable retention (draw force), but the exact mechanism varies depending on the product. We aim for a draw force high enough to keep items from popping out of their pouches if you jump.
Non-light bearing holsters:
Retention is set with the screw located beneath the trigger guard. The force is primarily derived from the stiffness of the holster body, and the interaction with the trigger guard. Tightening the screw increases retention, but this one can quickly become too tight.
Magazine pouches:
Retention is set with the two screws opposite the bend, Tighten the screws to pinch the magazine more.

Maintenance Instructions
The bolted joints in a holster may loosen over time. If you don’t want to apply thread locker, simply tighten them again with a number 2 Phillips driver, roughly 3/4 as tight as you can by rolling the screwdriver against your fingers with your thumb. If you over-tighten, the screws will get loose again faster.
Adding a thread locker like Loctite 243 (medium strength, oil tolerant) can help extend the maintenance interval. We don’t apply it ourselves because we expect you to loosen and tighten every screw in the holster during fitment. To apply thread locker to any screw on a Mockingbird Defence holster:
Remove the screw while keeping its post in the holster
Add a drop of thread locker to the first five threads of the screw
Insert the screw back into its post, and tighten
Allow roughly 3 hours for a full cure
The plastic in the holster body will not be significantly affected by thread locker if it happens to be exposed to it. Simply wipe away any squeeze-out or spills.
Cleaning
Our products are worn next to skin. If you don’t clean them, they’re going to become unhygienic. We recommend cleaning at least once a month, particularly on the skin side. You may want to clean more frequently if you’re wearing the holster while active.
Use rubbing alcohol and gentle scrubbing with nothing harder than a nylon brush. This will clear out dead skin and kill any microbes that may be living in the surface of the pouch. Wipe the holster dry with a paper towel before using it after cleaning. The plastic in the holster body will not be significantly affected by this.
